Connect Receives Community Recognition

By 13/07/2022No Comments

Local state parliamentarian (and self-proclaimed ‘proud inner-westie’), Jo Haylen MP, Member for Summer Hill, dropped by Connect. Jo came to present General Manager Brett Andrews, and the team with a certificate of appreciation, specifically for Connect’s Winter Calendar, but more widely, in recognition of Connect’s valuable work in the inner west.

The ‘Community Recognition Statement’ reflected a recent speech Jo delivered in Parliament, where she recognised the vital services that Connect provides to the local community, especially those during the Covid19 pandemic lockdowns. Our work providing access to transport and social activities reduces the isolation of older and transport disadvantaged persons within our community.

This is not the first time Jo has generously spoken about Connect and our work. Connect is proud to see our staff and our Directors’ work recognised.  Jo is a strong advocate for women, the elderly and disabled, LGBTIQ people and families, groups that Connect strives to assist every day.

Week in week out, door – to – door, we run multiple social outings, shopping runs, services to the City and surrounding teaching and referral hospitals. We also provide individual transport to those needing to get to appointments, visit family and friends and all the other things that people need and like to do to stay connected.
