Connect and the Food Pantry

By 13/07/2020 July 28th, 2020 No Comments

Connect: Inner West continues to partner with the Addi Road Food Pantry, getting basic staples to those who need it most. Our continued assistance enables the Food Pantry to increase its outreach to meet growing demand beyond their current capacity to deliver.

The Addison Road Food Pantry is a food rescue grocery shop that rescues nearly two tonnes of fruit, vegetables, bread and other quality food each week from being thrown into landfill and passes it on at highly affordable rates to the community.

During the Covid19 pandemic, the Food Pantry has been ramping up their operations and putting together emergency Covid relief boxes for community organisations, helping those who may not be able to readily access or afford supplies.

Presently, Connect is facilitating the additional transportation of 100+ boxes of food each week on behalf of the Food Pantry, to the Jesuit Refugee Centre in Westmead, an amazing organisation which serves and advocates for refugees and people seeking asylum and other forcibly displaced people within Australia.

We also make a delivery each week to the Rozelle Neighbourhood Centre for their Pop Up Pantry.
